Heatsense, established in 1984, is regarded as the UK’s leading specialist high-performance thermocouple and signal cable manufacturer. Its manufacturing capabilities cover a broad range of specialist cables that operate in extreme (harsh) environments. The company is a technology leader in fluoropolymer extrusion and high-performance taping and cable wrapping. Related services (processes include) cover sintering, colouring, etching and the application of various specialist coatings. The company has both glass yarn braiding and metal screening capabilities – the range covers high temperature yarns and a wide range of metals.

The high-performance cable range includes thermocouple cables & extensions wires, equipment wires, coaxial cables, multicore cables, micro-cables and fine wires.

Most/all cables are resistant to flame, oils, chemicals and some can operate in ultra-high vacuum, cryogenic, radiation and nuclear environments.

Insulation materials include PFA, FEP, PTFE, ETFE, EFGLAS, PE, PU, PVC, Taped & Sintered PTFE, Mica, Silicone, Polyimide & Aramid Yarns. Braiding materials include glass & ceramic fibres, other specialist yarns and various metals.

Heatsense has both ISO9001:2015 and ISO14001:2015 Accreditations and is currently working closely with the NAMRC (Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre) on the F4N (Fit for Nuclear) Approval Scheme.

The company is also working towards AS9100:2016 and aims to be accredited in 2019.  The company offers a range of approvals that meet all internationally recognised specifications. 

Heatsense has fully embraced LEAN manufacturing techniques and made substantial progress on its continuous improvement journey.

The company is currently working on Industry 4.0 technology, utilising digital processes on individual production lines to further improve efficiencies, quality and throughput rates.
